Welcome to 2015, a year for mindfulness!
In my last blog, I offered highlights from my attendance at the Mindful Leadership Summit I attended in November. In this blog, I want to share with you a mindful leader approach from Jim Dethmer, Co-Founder of the Conscious Leadership Forum. He presented a workshop called Four Keys to Leading Consciously.
Jim contends there are 4 keys to leading consciously:
Self-awareness: Where am I? What is the state of my being?
Acceptance: Can I accept myself for being where I am if I’m below the line?
Shifting: Am I WILLING to shift from below to above the line?
Practice: How will I make the shift?
The “line” that he is referring to is a tool called Above & Below The Line.
Above the Line: represents acceptance and trust where presence, curiosity, growth and learning happens “by me.”
Below the Line: represents resistance and toxic fear where drama, defensiveness and scarcity happens “to me.”
How do you assess if you are above or below the line? It is by our beliefs, behaviors and statements.
This is such an insightful tool that the best way to learn about it is to watch this short video clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLqzYDZAqCI
Now that you’re back, I’m sure you want to see what this Above & Below the Line tool looks like on paper. So, email me to request it at kevin@pokornyconsulting.com and I will email it to you
Thanks and I wish everyone a mindful 2015!
